A line item such as S135 drill pipe may identify the basic product family, but it does not define the complete joint that will arrive at the rig.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a perforaci\u00f3n contractor or OCTG buyer, the finished configuration matters. tuber\u00eda-body dimensi\u00f3ns, nominal peso, upset, tool-junta geometry, rotary-shouldered uni\u00f3n, weld-zone condition, inespecIFicaci\u00f3NCi\u00f3n scope, and traceability all affect whether new tuber\u00eda can be introduced into an existing sarta de perforaci\u00f3n without creating avoidable coMPatibility or acceptaNCe problems. The buyer needs to know exactly what technical configuration the quotation represents.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A finished <a href=\"__PROTECTED_0__\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-secondary-color\">tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n<\/mark><\/a> order normally brings several product elements together. The buyer should verIFy what the relevant fabricante&#8217;s licensed scope actually covers and which organization is responsible for the finished assembly being supplied.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An API claim on a quotation does not answer questions such as who produced the tuber\u00eda body, where the uni\u00f3ns came from, or who released the assembled junta. Those details belong in the technical and traceability review.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Follow the Production Chain, Not the CoMPany Label<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dIFfereNCe between a proveedor and a <strong>tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n fabricante<\/strong> is often discussed too simplistically.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buying directly from a fabricante can shorten part of the supply chain, but ownership of manufacturing equipment is not the only issue that matters to the project. A proveedor may coordinate production from qualIFied sources, maintain stock, manage third-party inespecIFicaci\u00f3NCi\u00f3n, or assemble a project-especIFicaci\u00f3nIFic entrega from approved fabricantes.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The buyer still needs a clear answer to the same questions:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Who fabricaci\u00f3nd the tuber\u00eda body?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who supplied or fabricaci\u00f3nd the uni\u00f3n?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who completed and released the finished assembly?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which inespecIFicaci\u00f3NCi\u00f3n records belong to that material?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can the physical marking be recoNCiled with the documents delivered with the shipment?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A proveedor that cannot answer these questions consistently creates a traceability problem even IF the product description on the commercial invoice looks correct.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conversely, a supply chain involving more than one organization is not automatically a problem IF the approved manufacturing source and document trail remain clear.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For procurement purposes, the stronger test is therefore not simply proveedor or fabricante? It is whether the technical responsibility remains visible from the approved eespecIFicaci\u00f3nIFicaci\u00f3n to the junta received at the yard.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why a Short tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n Description Can Be INComplete<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nominal tuber\u00eda OD, peso, grado and uni\u00f3n designation are important purchasing identIFiers, but they still may not fully define the finished tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n junta. Tool-junta OD and ID can change the actual uni\u00f3n geometry and the published operating limits even when the tuber\u00eda body itself remains uNChanged.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A useful example appears in NOV Grant Prideco&#8217;s published HDD tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n configurations. The two juntas below use the same tuber\u00eda-body OD, nominal peso, espesor de pared, S135 grado and NC50 uni\u00f3n. The tool-junta OD is also identical. INCreasing the published tool-junta ID from <strong>2-3\/4 in. to 3-1\/4 in.<\/strong> iNCreases the bore by <strong>0.500 in.<\/strong>, while the published maximum make-up par decreases from <strong>38,000 ft-lb to 30,700 ft-lb<\/strong>. That is a dIFfereNCe of <strong>7,300 ft-lb<\/strong>, or about <strong>19%<\/strong> relative to the 38,000 ft-lb configuration. The published maximum pullback remains uNChanged at 560,800 lb.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This coMParISOn does <strong>not<\/strong> mean that 38,000 ft-lb or 30,700 ft-lb is a universal API NC50 make-up par. These are fabricante-published values for the especIFicaci\u00f3nIFic Grant Prideco HDD configurations shown above. Their value in a proveedor review is to demonstrate that the uni\u00f3n name alone does not describe every performaNCe-relevant feature of the finished junta.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an petr\u00f3leofield tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n purchase, the same procurement priNCiple applies: body OD, nominal peso and grado should be reviewed together with the exact uni\u00f3n, tool-junta OD and ID, upset configuration and any fabricante-especIFicaci\u00f3nIFic make-up requirements. A description such as <strong>5 in. Statements such as chemical composition checked, dureza tested, or iMPact tested do not tell a buyer whether the material actually passed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n supplied to API 5DP, the review should therefore go beyond a list of inespecIFicaci\u00f3NCi\u00f3n items. The certIFicado or inespecIFicaci\u00f3NCi\u00f3n report should identIFy the relevant grado, heat or lot, test condition, measured value, and applicable acceptaNCe limit. The same priNCiple applies to tuber\u00eda body material, uni\u00f3ns and the friction-weld zone.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chemical Composition<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">material certIFicados should be reviewed against the limits that apply to the ordered grado rather than checked only for the grado designation. The reported heat chemistry should therefore show phosphorus at or below <strong>0.020%<\/strong> and sulfur at or below <strong>0.015%<\/strong>. A certIFicado showing either element above these limits would require technical review rather than acceptaNCe based only on the S135 designation.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The SS grados have additional alloy and microstructure requirements, so they should not be treated as ordinary S-grado tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n with lower phosphorus and sulfur values.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weld-Zone dureza<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The friction-weld zone between the upset tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n body and the uni\u00f3n has explicit dureza limits. API 5DP distinguishes the requirements by grado rather than applying one dureza value to every tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Weld-Zone Requirement<\/th><th>Maximum dureza<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>grados E, X, G and S \u2014 surface dureza<\/td><td>37 HRC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>grados E, X, G and S \u2014 mean through-wall dureza<\/td><td>37 HRC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>grado V \u2014 surface dureza<\/td><td>40 HRC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>grado V \u2014 mean through-wall dureza<\/td><td>40 HRC<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>SS grados \u2014 surface dureza<\/td><td>32 HRC<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For an S135 junta, this gives the buyer a direct acceptaNCe refereNCe. A recorded weld-zone surface dureza of <strong>35 HRC<\/strong> is below the applicable <strong>37 HRC maximum<\/strong>, whereas a result of <strong>39 HRC<\/strong> exceeds that limit.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These values illustrate how the acceptaNCe criterion is applied; they are not production results from a particular fabricante.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a dureza result exceeds the especIFicaci\u00f3nIFied limit, the affected area requires further evaluation and retesting according to the applicable API 5DP procedure. Continued noNConformaNCe can lead to rejection unless an allowable re-heat-treatment and retest route is successfully completed.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is considerably more meaningful in a proveedor review than a certIFicado carrying only the statement weld dureza tested.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tool-junta dureza<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tool-junta dureza should also be checked against an acceptaNCe range rather than treated as a general indication of strength.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For non-SS uni\u00f3n cajaes, API 5DP especIFicaci\u00f3nIFies the following dureza requirement:<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Tool-junta Item<\/th><th>API 5DP Requirement<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Non-SS uni\u00f3n caja dureza<\/td><td>285\u2013341 HBW<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A measured result should therefore fall within <strong>285\u2013341 HBW<\/strong> for the applicable non-SS caja uni\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A value above the upper limit should not be interpreted simply as a harder or stronger uni\u00f3n. The measured value has to remain within the especIFicaci\u00f3nIFied material condition.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Heat-control dureza testing should also remain linked to the applicable heat of steel so that the buyer can determine which production material the result represents.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Charpy IMPact Requirements<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMPact testing provides another measurable point for proveedor qualIFication, particularly for higher-strength tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For PSL-1 tuber\u00eda de perforaci\u00f3n bodies in grados X, G, S and V, longitudinal Charpy V-notch testing is conducted at <strong>21 \u00b0C \u00b1 3 \u00b0C<\/strong>.
